Banking - NZ:

Banking in NZ is NOT free – yes culture shock time, you will be charged for drawing money out and paying it in……..so be ready!!!!!!!!!!

National Bank: Highly Recommended

National Bank provide a countrywide network of High Street branches and so are available most everywhere!

The National Bank have a very slick system for applying for an account.  You can complete the documentation on-line and then either send  the paperwork via post, fax or e-mail. You will then be called by the Migrant Banking Team in Auckland to chat through your immediate and medium term needs.

In addition, the National Bank has a representative on the ground in the UK who is a Kiwi herself so not only can help with the banking side of things
but can also give some further insights into Kiwi life!

ASB Bank: Highly Recommended

If you prefer the more traditional High Street banking approach then this is the bank for you.  You will find excellent individual service from this bank whether you are setting up Personal or Business Accounts. They are also very focused on assisting you to set up your NZ account(s) before you leave the UK.  Our experience speaks volumes and you can access their website here.  Initially please contact us here at BritsNZ and as above we will assess your requirements and then provide you with the individual you can speak to in the UK to sort out your account.

Banking - UK

You should be looking to keep a UK account open but it is important that you:

• Rationalise your accounts into one
• Make sure that it is internet efficient – telephone banking does not work from NZ!
